About the Project

The Duxbury Free Library received a grant in September 2022 from Mass Humanities to start the South Shore LGBTQ Oral History Archive. This intergenerational project will bring together LGBTQ teens and LGBTQ elders to participate in oral history interviews, bringing to light long-excluded stories about queer history in our own communities. We are grateful to Mass Humanities for the opportunity to create this project.

This project has been created by Sam Correia (they/she), Reference and Community Engagement Librarian at the Duxbury Free Library.

Transcriptions were auto-generated using Otter.ai and edited by Sam Correia. Any audio editing was only for sound and volume purposes. The audio software used was Audacity, a free, open-source software.

The tags/metadata were created with the Homosaurus Linked Data Vocabulary.

The Duxbury Free Library is committed to centering and showcasing historically marginalized voices through our collections, programming, and projects such as the South Shore LGBTQ Oral History Archive. To learn more about our policies, visit our policies page on our website.

If you are an LGBTQ teen or LGBTQ senior citizen on the South Shore interested in participating in this project, please contact Community Engagement Librarian Sam (scorreia@duxbury.ocln.org or 781-934-2721 x5630) or submit a Contact Us Form
